May 2019 Technique Class

Today was my technique class at the Local Bean coffee shop. We made 3 cards, two using the Shaving Cream technique and one using the Painter's Tape technique.  The blue one is with glossy paper and the pink with regular cardstock.

April 2019 NC Demos Blog Hop

Welcome to the monthly NC Demos Blog Hop.  This months theme is Spring and all the Holidays that will occur during this time frame.  I wasn't too sure what I was going to do for this hop and what decided it for me was DSP.  Yes, I saw a SU pattern I loved and had to use it in a card.

My card is done for a Spring Birthday but it can be easily changed to a Mother's Day card or even a Wedding card the choice is yours.  This is my card.

To begin I took a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and cut it in half to measure 5 1/2 x 11 and scored it at 4 1/2

Then I took a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and cut it to 5 1/4 x 4 to that I attached a piece of Needlepoint Nook DSP  cut 5 x 3 3/4  and placed that on the card base.  Just love this DSP.

That was the easy part.  I then took a piece of Glossy White cardstock and very lightly sponged some Night of Navy and Balmy Blue ink on it and it has to be done lightly because I decided to make this piece look like Faux Mother of Pearl.  After the ink dried I then took the Frosty White Shimmer paint and a piece of plastic wrap to get the effect I wanted.  To do this I then crumpled the plastic wrap and dipped it lightly into the shimmer paint and dabbed it all over the Glossy cardstock I had sponged to get it just right.  This Faux Mother of Pearl is an old technique I had used many years ago and I was happy to try it again.  I then set it aside to dry.  When dry I punched it out with the Starburst punch and glued it on a 2 1/4 inch circle of Night of Navy. This piece I then attached to a 2 inch piece of Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon and attached it to the DSP piece with Dimensionals.  Now that that was over I had to decided what to do with the rest of the card.

So I grabbed the Butterfly Gala stamp set stamped the image in Black and colored it in with Watercolor pencils.  I wanted intensity and was happy with the results.  I made 4 of the butterfly pairs and used the co-ordinating punch to cut them out.  A large one and a small one I attached with Dimensionals to the Faux Mother of Pearl circle.  And two more of the small one around the card.
To finish it off I colored clear rhinestones with the Night of Navy Dark Blends and put three of them on the card one in the circle between the butterflies and two others where I felt they belonged.  The front of the card was finished.

For the inside I stamped stamped the Salutation "Hello Beautiful" in Night of Navy on a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5 1/4 x 4 and attached it to the inside of the card and then with a Dimensional added a large butterfly I had left over and I was done.

I also did another version using the Polka Dot Tulle ribbon.
