Welcome to the NC Demos Blog Hop. We are here the last Sunday of each month and I hope everyone has had a very Blessed Happy Easter.
This months theme is "R & R" which is retiring and returning. Our cards this month have to feature a retiring item and one that is returning. I chose the Perennial Lavender Suite for my card. I love this suite and I am glad some of it will be in the new annual catalog coming out in May. Sadly, the Perennial Postage stamp set is retiring but the dies are not. Also returning is the awesome DSP which is so gorgeous.
The card I am making today is a Diagonal Fun Fold not my own design but cased from Stamping with Jaime. It is a simple fun fold and very easy to make I will also be featuring it in one of my card classes.
To begin I started with a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock 5 1/2 x 11 scored at 4 1/4 and 8 1/2. There are now 3 panels on the card, on the edge with the large panel trim off a piece of cardstock just a sliver so it closes flat. On the other side is a smaller panel here at the top measure and mark 1" from the fold then put it in the paper trimmer from the tick mark to the bottom edge line it up and cut diagonal. Basically this is you fun fold.
For the inside I cut a piece of Basic White 5 1/4 x 4 and attached it. I then folded the card and on the top panel I cut a piece of the Lavender DSP 5 1/4 x 4 and attached it to the card. Then worked on the diagonal piece. I cut a piece of DSP different design 5 1/4 x 2 1/4 at the top from the edge in I marked it at 7/8" and I cut it in the trimmer from the 7/8 mark to the bottom edge and cut off this diagonal piece and attached it to the front.
I then used the lavender dies to cut the leaves out in Pretty Peacock and the flowers out of the retiring color Orchid Oasis a color I will sadly miss. I attached these to the front diagonal in the center. Then from the Postage dies I cut out one of the pieces in white stamped my sentiment in Gorgeous Grape and attached it with dims at the bottom covering the stems of the leaves and flowers. Also added, one of the pretty butterfly elements.
Of course, had to add some bling and used 3 of the purple fine shimmer gems from the collection and card was done.
Thank you for stopping by this evening and I hope to see you again next month. Make sure you visit the other blogs and see the gorgeous cards my sister demos have created. Bye till next month.
